Okay, here's my summary:
Since Indepence, Sudan has been through a very tumultous time with various coups but one of the most impacting and more recent was led by Omar Al-Bashir. Under his regime, he barely developed Sudan and led in an authoritarian way that some say favored the Arab population of Sudan. Omar Al-Bashir helped contribute to this current civil war by arming Sahel Arab militarists (mostly the Janjaweed militias) against the African in the Darfur paramilitary organization called the SLM (Sudan Liberation Movement/Army) which was rebelling against Al-Bashir. The Janjaweeds would commit massive amounts of indiscrimnate killings and it is classified as a genocide. This was one of the first steps of the Janjaweed becoming more incorporated/intertwined with the national military.
After South Sudan achieved Indepence, Al-Bashir lost a major amount of resources and he felt like incorporating the Janjaweeds was more necessary and eventually they would become what is know known today as the RSF (Rapid Support Forces) Along with the SAF (Sudanese Armed Forces) they would work under Al-Bashir until they eventually couped him in 2019. It's important to note that they commited many massacres under him.
This was a bright spot in Sudanese history as hope was finally here for a short while. 2 years later in 2021, the SAF and RSF would commit a coup against the civilian led government arresting the prime minister. They promised there would be democracy again but the RSF and SAF would get into conflict as the SAF wanted to merge forces within 1 year and the RSF wanted them to eventually merge more along a 10 year long span. Neither would move on this issue and thus the civil war started, plunging Sudan into a massive humanitarian crisis especially in the Darfur region where the RSF controls. The RSF is mostly funded by the UAE in order to extract gold as well which prolongs the war.
