which, in my opinion, was the plan all along.
- convince insta whores to use tons of filters and image correction, getting the mainstream used to seeing heavily altered images
- enter AI, which (if you're used to looking at heavily filtered/shopped images) is going to be pretty much indistinguishable to anyone who isn't paying close attention.
Furthermore, while there will always be people who detest either (heavy filters or AI), most of the population doesn't fucking care at all and will *sigh* unzip to Olivia Casta or whoever.
Very much the same thing happened in music. They got the general population so accustomed to fake-ass pitch and rhythm correction that after a while everyone (including supposedly "live" "real" singers) is using it, and now the AI-generated music, while being kind of shit from a musical perspective, is "good enough" for millions of people.
That genie ain't going back in the bottle, but we can do our best to keep AI-created bullshit out of our image forums.
