I can't wrap my mind around that the majority of people I talk to or see on here are several years younger than me. I'm 28 and I already felt like I was a young newfig when I started posting on 4chan over a decade ago.

Doesn't even seem like it's been a decade. For some reason I thought the userbase would just age the same, at least a majority be around my age, but no there's lots of new users that are either in early 20s or teenager.

It's hard for me to wrap my head around how they could even have a context for 4chan like do they even know where they're at.

Like I said, I already felt removed from the core chan userbase from 2008 to 2011, that would be doubly felt by those younger than me. They would've came in after the time the site was already sold and a majority of memes were made elsewhere and reposted here. What would've even compelled them to come here? Seeing frog grentext stories on youtube?

same i'm 30 and posting on this website in general is depressing with how many younger people are on it, bringing with them a culture that is completely alien to me

i am ultra newfag from 2018, but i was 15 when i came to the site. i didnt come for greentexts or electino faggotry, legitimately came for /a/ to discuss anime. the site has changed so much, even in the short amount of time ive been here. i can imagine how much its changed since you, or your forefathers first viisted. lots of fucking bots nowadays holy shit

to elaborate ive given up on the rest of the internet, and i absolutely depsise people around my age and their phonefaggotry and "ironic humor"
and i only viist 4cchan for social interaction, otherwise i read books and play melee. but enough about me... sorry. i absolutely despise modern society and wouldve loved to have been born before the internet destroyed western society. i still remember the time before the first iphone came out and how different things were. sadness.

That's been a constant throughout 4chan's history, the mean age always stays the same
Anonymous No.12509277
age is irrelevant all that matters is experience, and honestly some 8 year olds are more experienced than some of the grown adults on this website

You either grow up to find greener pastures, or you end up back here when they die or you get kicked out.
If 4chan is "your place" you're just fucked, sorry.

4chan fools you with its mystique and its anonymity but it's just as compromised as twitter. It's one of the gutters of the internet where the most mediocre people naturally end up. You don't stay in a gutter and make it your home, you climb your way out.

From the gutter to the stars
then back to the gutter
only to rise again
and fall once more
to ascend
and then collapse
and rise
and so on

The only proven way to thrive here is to have tard-strength grade dedication for ruining anything other people actually like about 4chan

This place is great if you've been around since the old internet, when it was actually free. If you think the "nu" internet is full of better things whew, that is just the true gutter to me.

I used to become forlorn or fall into the trappings of nostalgia but I've realized growth means just that. Your loved ones will die video games won't be as fun and waking up in the morning is a venture of misery as opposed to optimism but guess what
We're stronger than that

I just think it's weird that teenagers know what homestuck is, it ended a decade ago how it is possible for high schoolers to still be arguing about it online, who is making them do that
