Reddit loves to post about the research on grandiose narcissism because it describes the far right. They don't like to acknowledge the research on neurotic narcissism because it describes half of Reddit.

I don't think neurotic narcissism is in the DSM so I'm not sure what you mean by that. But there's certainly a political split between grandiose narcissism (cartoonish eagles and flags set to inspirational music) and vulnerable narcissism (gaslighting shrews and harpies that crybully you).

It's the same motivation behind massive, forced immigration. Political parties that lose voters due to bad policy and bad results need to hack the voter rolls to replace all the voters they keep losing. If crazy people hadn't been deinstitutionalized in the US, elections wouldn't be nearly as close as they have been. Or, more likely, the Democratic platform would be very different than what it is today.
