Pretty much true. The Chinese managed to keep up the momentum of their development and blew right from copying to innovation in a way nobody expected. They should have expected it though.

Every "China is dominant in science and technology" post is either pro-Chinese propaganda or destructive propaganda aimed to create a sense of decline and confusion in the West (especially in the US).
China is academically important but anyone actually doing science knows most significant research and breakthroughs come from America and Europe. No wonder why pics like this are more common in political spaces than scientific ones.
