If however you miss the heart or only cause minor damage, then surgeons could patch you up and you would recover with your head intact, you could the try again.
If you hit a lung or something like that maybe you'd still die but slowly, you would choke and bleed to death. You could probably just shorten than by shooting again right then, its just hard if you mess your head first.
You should also consider drowning in an indoor pool or some place where you have control and wont be found. Normally its a horrible method because everyone has experienced drowning, holding your breath, etc. Theres a method to either stop or shorten the duration of that panic, pic related explains it.
What you do is hyperventilate, this increases air flow in the lungs and clears out your blood of most CO2, this reduces the ph in the blood and causes Alkalosis, it feels bad. Anyway, when you are in alkalosis you can hold your breath for way longet than usual, this is because the body continues to use the oxygen reserved in the blood (stored as hemoglobin) and to produce CO2, but since you purged the CO2 from the blood it takes longer for it to reach the levels at which panic sets in.
As the CO2 levels rise, the Oxygen levels drop as you consume the blood reserves, and when it drops below a critical level you blackout and feel nothing.
This happens to divers often, they hold their breath and hyperventilate first to be able to hold out for longer. Then sometimes they are diving and just blackout.
