most often it's caused by nutrient deficiencies and a ruined gut microbiome
since women are more likely to suffer from eating disorders like vegetarianism, veganism and anoxeria - they're also more likely to suffer from "mental disorders"

what has been proven is that they have a higher likelihood of developing these mental disorders but that they're caused/triggered by outside factors that are not genetic (nurture)
assuming the asian in the op is being honest about her family history, do you think all of her relatives also suffer from mental disorders like hers or do you think her being raised in america instead of japan has anything to do with it?

I don't understand why the younger folks basicallt flaunt their mental illnesses as a source of pride. If I'd been in and out of psych wards getting mental diagnosis and taking meds, I would not want anyone to find out about my defects.
