Hi /sci/,
I wish to start learning mathematics again from scratch. To be honest I didn't really pay much attention or try hard in school and what I did learn I've mostly forgotten. Tbh I always found the way math is written and taught wasn't very intuitive and didn't come naturally to me. I've been a software developer for many years now and I'm hoping my programming experience might help the math make more sense this time around. For example I was amazed when I saw a post showing how the scary Sigma Notation thingy is really just a simple For Loop in programming. I wonder how many other things are just like that... I bought pic related to help me on my journey, it seems like a cool piece of equipment. Any advice from /sci/ to help me on this journey would be greatly appreciated. Advice on learning math from the ground up is all welcome but I'd be especially grateful if anyone knows of any resources aimed at translating programming skills to math skills and making math make sense to a programmer. Thanks /sci/, its my first post here so plz no bully, I just wanna git gud.

Khan Academy is sort of the default here.

You'll be pleased to know that a lot of calculus pretty much revolves around the concept of passing one function into another function. If you're comfortable with that, you're not gonna get filtered very soon.

first bit of advice, chuck your shiny new calculator
second piece of advice, math isn't programming and conflating the two will only make you worse at both
case in point, summation notation is not a for loop, it is more general than that

I asked the same question a couple days ago too, there's a few pointers there, here's the link: >>16738719
I started looking up the math subject hierarchy and determining what level I'm at, then started watching some videos on what books to get, this one stood out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTnEG_WGd2Q
then for whatever books I found that people recommended in videos I searched up some reviews of those books, and if a review was negative, or the book was called "dry", they would usually recommend alternatives. I hope this helps!

AOPS, start from Prealgebra.
This is the best way, the royal road.
