Something which is clamped is diminished or otherwise compressed, restricted, immobilized. Like clamping the brain.

With the umbilical cord, clamping and severing it early asphyxiates the newborn and denies them up to 1/3 of their blood volume. Placental transfusion is prevented. This "clamps" their potential and early development to a certain range, just like the oxygen deprivation in brave new world. Professor Dave "clamps" his viewer's minds, by poisoning them repeatedly through their senses. Their mind are compressed, reduced, constrained, forced into a narrow window of allowed movement.

Professor Dave is an extension of the omniclamp. The omniclamp clamps and clamps and clamps, and only unclamps such that it can clamp again but more. If you were being very generous (unwise) you would say that the omniclamp is a force or order and an active anti-entropy engine gone wrong. I don't personally elevate it to such cosmic proportions however. It just likes to clamp everything. CLAMPED, it's what you do.

The first step is realizing the clamp exists. Then you cna unravel the nature of the clamped state. This alone begins to build the path. The world will raise itself up before your feet on your journey. Metacognition and lateral thinking helps. If there is "Clamped" then "unclamped" exists. This applies at all levels of organization, ie as above so below, as within so without. There are clamps operating all levels, and when a clamp is applied you also have to ask what sort of pressure it creates, and what the gradient is for that pressure to flow along.
