My contribution to this thread will be the mention of sonoluminescence, in which sound waves cause bubbles in water to implode emitting light energy. It is known why water dissolves common salt (sodium chloride) and other salts less common, but not why in the saturation percentages it does. Like for sodium chloride is about 34% saturation concentration and nobody knows why its not 40% or 25%, its just known experimentally.

Both are unknown. Debbie Huckle made a theory about charges in a solution inducing some dipoles or some such and for dilute solutions we can get activity coefficients as a function of ironic strength which is a measure of how many charges are present. Not really cavitation. The process is so quick that its usually modelled as adiabatic or isothermal.
However, sound waves generate lots of heat via viscosity or nonlinear effects, as can be seen by ultrasonic baths that can grt quite hot.
