i blame the biologists for not properly communicating this. likely because they themselves don't understand the distinction, and how they're using evolution as an overloaded term to mean different things

the law gravity is immutable and all people accept it, even schizos. it is the theory of gravity which physicists and even schizos attack. similar things are happening with evolution and biologists seem to follow some kind of motte and bailey rhetoric: they say evolution is scientific, yet when pressed on specifics fall back on it being an immutable law of nature beyond critique. biologists need to do a better job differentiating and communicating the lines between the immutable, observable laws of evolution and the associated scientific predictions and modeling of evolution.
