Not really. There's tons of vaguely "straight" lines in nature. Quasi-fractal patterns are common because the same basic processes happening at small scales are happening at large scales as well.

With whisker alignment, it starts with a radial symmetry as an embryo that translates to periodicity as facial features are stretched out by developing facial features.
