So how do you actually train dual n-back? I improved my score because I got smarter about what I remember at any given point in time (you should partition the entire duration into chunks of size n, rather than just attempting to store the past n ones for every point in time), but that does not sound like brain gains to me

It targets the same region of the brain as lobotomy. The whole point is damage to that node alleviates mania and depressive symptoms.

I do quad n-back. Don't think its helping that much, but I am getting slightly better at n-backing. The only real gains for me is I can focus on stuff before my brain starts to hurt longer. I have only been doing it for a few months though. I plan on going for about 2.5 years to see if there are any real changes. Its fun, replaced my daily gaming for the most part.

Where did you get that idea? Itβs wrong. Read Sargant's "Introduction to Physical Methods of Treatment in Psychiatry".
