being awake is painful as fuck. sleep gives us relief from our own thoughts and circumstances

Evolution has maximized the volume of the brain by not including lymphatic vessels in it (only blood vessels), but this means that while you're awake waste product is accumulating in your brain, but this has to be addressed somehow, and that is by cleaning it out with an increased amount of cerebrospinal fluid that flushes it out when you're sleeping.

Effort isn't pain, you retard.
If it fucking hurts it's either disused or you damaged yourself. Both feel different and are readily identified.
Exhaustion doesn't hurt.

experts say dementia is caused by lack of sleep over a long period, so it's assumed that it's caused by build up of waste product in the brain that doesn't get cleaned out from sleep.

Actual awareness of your own fucking body pilled, more like.
The fuck does the difference between an ache and shooting pain have to do with samsara?

Damn I've had insomnia issues since I was an infant, I don't want dementia. How the fuck do I get more sleep?
Are there any medications you can take that give you more or better deep recovery sleep?

It's more complicated than that still though, there are multiple phases to sleep, for example when you're dreaming your brains is actually doing more work than when you're awake. But yeah, something along those lines does seem reasonable starting point.

Calm down mein neger, nobody ITT talked about "shooting pain", and nobody gave you the fucking right to extrapolate and misinterpret what others are saying and then hold others accountable for it, no matter how autistic you may be.

there's a few meds but you should get your insomnia fixed naturally. Maybe try fixing your diet or being more active might help. Try asking over at /fit/ for advice.

>nobody mentioned shooting pain
I am extrapolating from "exhaustion is not pain." I am attempting to explain a simple concept to you.
>mein neger
Sometimes I wonder if you even realize you're signaling.

>I am extrapolating from "exhaustion is not pain." I am attempting to explain a simple concept to you.
I am the one trying to explain somethig to you, a person evidently weak in semiotics.
You're saying A is not B, but where did A come from into this discussion? By you arbitrarily picking a meaning of a word that is relevant in the current context.
That anon wasn't asserting that being awake implies constant acute physiological sensation and it's absolutely fucking retarded to even try to move the goalpost to this nonsense language game.
The very basis of communication is that you're trying to transfer thoughts through very imperfect signals, but you're supposed to be commucating with the person on the other end, not with the signals that are ambiguous when arbitrarily isolate from the context. Which is to say, you're looking at the finger instead of inferring the reference to the moon, and then dying on the hill that the discussion has been about the distal phalanx all along.

interesting fact, lymphatic vessels grow into the brain to help clean it up after damage

I moved nothing. Why are you being retarded on purpose?
Initial comment I responded to:
>being awake is painful as fuck.
>what do you mean mentioning types of pain would be applicable to this discussion
Again, waking is not pain. Do we need to run through the entire chain again as I fucking explain this basic ass concept to you?
Maybe I'll mention fatigue this time and your brain can latch onto a word it knows.
Does fatigue hurt?

Honestly, no. Commonly mentioned theories are still at best nothing more than guesses - flushing out waste, repairing damage, consolidating memories. We don't really have anything close to conclusive evidence for any of them. Yes humans may use it to perform multiple functions but the fact it's a ubiquitous process across so many animals, well that we simply don't understand.

I don't understand. What do we need conclusive evidence for? Isn't the "big question" that why is sleeping a thing instead of just being constantly awake? Or people somehow want to feel more self confident in the answer?
