This is all bad advice. You need to figure out how to make it all stick in your brain. Most people use pneumonics. I think that's gay, and prefer to use the method of being half confident: assume that I have the right answer and if I'm wrong, accept that I've got it backwards because there's something wrong with me. Here's an example:

Then check the answer. Do I have to flip the plus to a minus for sin? Am I sure it's not sinsin, coscos? Etc. if I'm wrong, I file that in my brain as another thing that I shouldn't be an arrogant bastard about.
