Why isn't solar energy considered free nuclear low cost low tech energy?

Because it's considered solar energy. Send a complaint to who ever came up with English if you have a problem with it.

Because it makes commas too expensive to use.

>solar
>relating to or determined by the sun

the problem with solar is that it is unpredictable
the game with energy is to match demand with supply almost exactly
if you don't and supply is more than demand the grid will be damaged
if supply is less than demand people won't have electricity

that's why it's common that energy companies sometimes even pay to export electricity, because they absolutely need to get rid of it

so with solar you need batteries to compensate which you don't with traditional energies and nuclear

that's why solar, wind etc are in a different class of their own, because the whole system needs to be redesigned

>anti retarded solar fags don't know about gravity batteries
Anonymous No.16785479 [Report]
Umm..295 never said anything anti solar or specified a specific battery

Because it's not free, not nuclear, not low cost, and not low tech?

hmm let's see assuming 1000 tons and lift them by 100m
gives us
E=mgh=1,000,000×9.81×100≈0.27MWh
a whopping 0.27MWh
enough to power 10 houses for a day

Gravity batteries are a meme intended to solve an already solved problem.

Now do the same calculation with pumped storage.

He's right. Executive Order saying, "No sun! Suck it sunnies!" could be signed tomorrow. Polarity shifts, no more electrons.
Or elections. I can never keep them straight.

just build enough solar, wind and other renewables with decent overcapacity. then low-pass it with tons of diverse energy storage. put the overspill into hydrogen. use fossils for plastics and fission for space exploration.

Did your calculator have a stroke or something?

Now find me a location where we can do it that's not already been done.

And also how do you account for the fact that it takes minutes to ramp up, while batteries need milliseconds?
