I share the sentiment that life (as a concept) is malignant and meaningless, but I can't agree about individual life. Every life is meaningful. Every single bacteria is full of meaning. The goal of life should be the utter irreversible annihilation of the universe. So that it may never appear again. I am not sure if it's a possible task, but its worth the try. In the meantime it's our duty towards ourselves that we make it as free of suffering as possible while we working towards the goal. Be compassionate towards all consciousness. None of us chose to be here. And if luck is on our side one day we can achieve eternal oblivion for everyone and everything.

Did it, though? How could we know that? I'm not saying evolution isn't real, but we can hardly explain how an eye formed. Not to say that it didn't form, it's just that it's very complicated, and the fossil record is very incomplete, and furthermore fossils are merely rocks and not complete organisms, and furtherfurthermore our understanding of biology as it exists now living and breathing is very far from complete. So how can we announce that evolution made consciousness, and that we have any understanding of how that happened or what it means? Indeed sitting next to our dim understanding of evolution, is our infinitely dimmer understanding of consciousness. It has no useful definition, as it can only be perceived subjectively. There is no known neurological or physical basis for it, not to say that there couldn't somehow be, but we are far from finding such a thing. But its existence can't be denied by any sane and conscious being either, so there is no escape from its mystery. Thanks for reading my blog.
