Why have Harvard students gotten so much smarter over the past 50 years?

It's GPA inflation not improvement.

In chronological order of occcurance;
>widespread access to education
>widespread cultural attitudes of pro-educated, highly informed citizens
>mandatory education for students as a form of state-subsidized daycare (women enter the workforce)
>decay of social values and standards leading to depressed gradeschool requirements and less demanding coursework inflating performance along the now-easier metrics

It's just a summary article about a trend in education. If there's anything wrong in there feel free to point it out, or does 2+2=5 if wikipedia says it actually equals 4?

Do you understand that an encyclopedia (at least one half-decent) will have sources and it's a starting point?

The funny thing is some are written by sycophants and "fact checked by grok" leading to the quality you would expect.

I'm not sure that grade inflation is significant at Harvard in recent years. It's clear that it has access to more and more educated and overall higher-achieving population of students. Its prestige grows unchecked as people all over the world realize how much privilege the students have. Just imagine that: all over the world it's the dream of the best of the best to go to Harvard (and a few others of the same tier).
It's scary really. It may come to people killing each other for the chance to attend these god tier universities.

While they could build their student body from the best of the best that isn't a sustainable business model and letting the rich buy their way in is.
I know a 12yo that can't read or write that will end up at Harvard because his dad is worth ~$400m, he doesn't pay any attention at school because "school is to get a job and I'll never work".

But they can still be choosy, on top of all that. Even among the millionaires there is competition.

Everyone gets a trophy! .....especially the blacks, browns, fags, troons and other "disadvantaged youths".

Harvard is a 100% scam. Unless you're already connected, you're toast. They also have the highest shoplifting rates from their campus stores and one of the highest default rates on their loans(see: every politician in D.C.)

"The Corporation" is for folks that already have their lives plotted out for them at birth. The 10% of genuine nerds are impressive, but no more than any other top level college in the world, and the world is catching up fast. They're a brand name at this point, but not much else.

Note also that virtually everyone of the uber-elite politicians went to Harvard and they had the manager of their Med School morgue get busted for selling body parts out the back door........but to whom? He also has tattooed eyeballs and armsleeves covered with literal satanic imagery......Go look it up.

Nothing to see here folks. Move along.

Late 40s/early 50s is when is starts to go parabolic, likely due to all the G.I. Bill recipients, Vets, etc....there were probably some very bright folks, and more than ever before, but by """the 60s""", it was already a purely performative institution. Just look at all the dumbfucks, like every SCOTUS judge, Kennedy, Obama, etc... All good "Harvard Men", and each one dumber and less accomplished than the one before.

You used to be able to at least get a hot, rich, tradwife that could actually read and write, but that's long gone too.
