Negative numbers don't exist in nature and x/0 equals infinity.
Light travels at c because c is the universe's way of representing infinity (local) velocity and since light has momentum but not mass, you have a momentum/0 situation resulting in infinite velocity.

actually light might as well have mass. we just adopted a model where it doesn't have mass to make things easier

Then why is the time difference between your post and my post a negative number?

c isn't anywhere near infinity, though, if it were, energy would be meaningless because it would always just be mass times infinity.
