Females do alarm calls to attract male or cause a collective flee, it isn't about sacrifice themselves and the reaction of the rest is nearly instantaneous so they don't stand out to worsen their survival.

A older female squirrel also probably has her kids around who are too young and dumb to evade cats so warning them still helps her from a darwinian perspective, even if she gets eaten sometimes.
