Medical science is right on the border between science and pseudoscience, tending strongly towards the latter. In principle, it's amenable to some degree of rigor, but still ends up rife with fraudulence, corruption and public manipulation. For anything "softer", all bets are off. Pseudoscience through and through.

the bigger part of medical science is just the placebo effect
as long as you "believe" that the treatment works, it does
it has been this way forever

the fact that treatments are more complicated and more "logical" today, than just applying a bunch of leeches, just enhances the placebo effect
that's why modern medicine is "better"
because due to being more complicated and logical it is better at tricking the brain that it works
