OOOPS!!! we killed a bunch of people "by accident" while getting rich off it again t. soience
The greedy soiyentists have been making fortunes selling and shilling this stuff for years, turns out it's deadly and causes heart attacks

90% higher risk compared to what? The general population, or people with chronic sleep problems?

So many such cases.

Is always compared to people who don't take that shit, you dimwit.

That would mostly be people who have no need for it because their sleep is ok. But your next post will inevitably show how my spoonfeeding a retard like you is a waste of time.

this "study" is basically fake news and has been widely criticized. it's not rigorous in any way, is purely correlative and misses the bigger implication that people with sleep issues (ie, those who would seek out melatonin) already had heart problems causing their sleep disruption (or had things like sleep apnea, that lead to heart problems and also disrupt sleep). even the researchers themselves said they didn't show a causal link, just that a real study might be worth doing

>misses the bigger implication that people with sleep issues (ie, those who would seek out melatonin) already had heart problems causing their sleep disruption
That's not the implication. The implication is that people with sleep disruption end up having heart problems and melatonin does fuck all to help them. This is trivial stuff.

Or maybe melatonin reduces the odds of heart problems but doesn't eliminate them. Is there a study of prevalence in heart problems among people with sleep disorders that don't take melatonin?
Anon is right, this look more a case of shared cause, rather than cause and effect

And maybe praying before bed does as well. But 90%=/=0% so they should probably find some actual solution to their problems, like exterminating every capitalist. :^)

Worth it for a good night's sleep.
Anonymous No.16838996 [Report]
Is this for people who use it regularly? I take it maybe twice a month and I'm wondering if I should stop

Wait the control group aren't insomniacs who didn't take melatonin? What's the fucking point of the study then?

Can't you read? As with 95% of """science""" slop, the point is that more research is needed. Enjoy funding this parasite class forever.

imagine being so stupid that you can't figure out how to sleep. surprise such people don't suffocate due to inability to comprehend breathing or maybe they starve because eating is beyond their intellectual capability.

>Note: The study featured in this news release is a research abstract...not peer-reviewed, and findings are considered preliminary
looks like a data analysis study. not much control over what data is there and why. could be the non-melatonin group didn't bother to mention that they buy melatonin from cvs. also could be the melatonin group is is taking it because heart issues and whatnot disrupt their sleep. could be crack users too for all we know. anyway, it seems more a presentation not a "study". but it sure did get attention
