The scientific and sociological implications of lying computers
why does AI just blatantly lie so much?
Grok had me thinking the IS had some crazy action plan in place to decommission nuclear reactors in case of a plague level pandemic until I asked for detailed info and it was like
>ahhh you caught me I made all that up lol
like wtf?

Scientific implications of low-mid IQs constantly anthropomorphizing statistical token stringers? Imagine thinking a program that samples tokens at random, without any notion of truth and falsehood, without any thoughts or intentions whatsoever, is "lying" to you because it outputs nonsense.

It's because they have no thinking ability, they're just designed to seem like they can think. It's been shown that when AI is asked how it arrived at an answer, then manually checking its internal processes of arriving at the answer, they don't match up. Basically it doesn't know how it arrives at its own answers
