Totally different transformation scheme, different overall aesthetics, different proportions, that grabber-claw and those wrist guns that don't exist on Wreck-Gar, etc. If anything, there's only a passing resemblance, and only if you're looking at the alt mode. There's no reason ANYONE would have assumed Trashmaster was a pretool.
