not sure why they to claim "Johto is almost never shilled" because it drags down their otherwise mostly correct post. Johto IS the oldest game without the protection of being the first so it gets the the most scrutiny and is treated like a scapegoat by modern fans. And the point of Johto not having shillmons falls apart due to Umbreon/Espeon (Which are shilled even more than the KANTOOOO eeveelutions) and T-tar. Granted they don't get as much as the top tier shillmons like Gardevoir or Lucario or CHARIZARD but almost nothing does.
Also one point used by straight haters and false flaggers is that Gen2 Pokemon were intentionally made shitmons to make Gen 1 look better but this is wrong. The only reason Gen 2 Pokemon are weak in battle now is powercreep and being an outlier among older gens due to Kanto gettingg infinite shilling buffs because KANTOOOOOOO and Hoenn having so many megas, and even many Gen 1/3 mons have fallen off.
Notice how Johto is hated for having so many evolutions to older Pokemon, but Sinnoh does the same thing but is beloved for "saving" gen 2 "shitmons" (even though Gen 1 and 3 pokemon got just as many evos in Sinnoh).

GSC/HGSS always had some differences from the rest of the series that would put some people off, but the fact the hate only started over a decade since the games got any focus proves the hate isn't due to anything about Johto . The rapid turn around is because shills like Merrick just started GSC as a scapegoat for the problems with the main series games. Its telling that the rabid anti-Johto hysteria only stared around Gen 8 when people were complaining about now bad SwSh was and its only festered since then. because anything a even the nuzlocke guy mostly focused his hate on the original GSC in his meme video and when asked most people would have conceded that HGSS at least improved many of GSCs issues. HGSS being so despised didn't happen until very recently after Johto hate was normalized.
