Because the Ranger is a D&D class inspired by such classic fiction as LotR where Aragorn was also called a Ranger.

There is no reason a Ranger can't be a wizard. They have a whole subclass that lets them be fighters and still cast spells as normal so a dude who shots bows and dual wield swords could just as easily be a wizard, or a druid depending on how you want to flavor it.

Being an accountant would obviously be a background trait.
