I get the feeling Miquella was like this for all the characters he was controlling and that his attempt to find a consort was a desperate attempt to revitalise and bring some reasonable order to the lands between.

Honestly, people really exaggerate his evil nature when I just see someone punished and burdened and with a child mind trying desperately to find someone strong enough to help him.
