I thought it was a cool idea that after having fought in many campaigns, the player character had mastered their class and done everything on Azeroth, and that it was time to now move on into a wider cosmos and learn new magicks and participate in brand new conflicts, but you didn't just stop being a paladin or a warlock or a Night Elf Druid or a Scourge Death Knight and so on. It reminded me of xianxia novels where the hero had become powerful and solved everything in his birth country, and it was time for him to ascend to a higher level plane.
