It is. Sega doesn't fully own the rights for Sonic X so they can't really do much besides having vauge references at best. There's also that it's much more profitable to invest into DiC Sonic shows + Archie, since these sub-series has a bigger fanbase, thus more willing to spend actual money to get their favorite character.
