Ampharos is a pretty hard one. It's already a fairly busy design. Honestly, I would avoid making a mega of it.
But if we were forced to, I dunno, just like... try to do something other than staple something random on it?
But sure, maybe shitting on things without providing a better way forward is counterproductive. Here's a quick doodle if we're keeping the "reference the past evolutions" as a concept. Is it great? Probably not, I think it still looks too similar (probably should have made it lankier). But like I said, there's two aspects to at least respect a mega design

And mega ampharos failed at step 1
