Yeah that kinda sucks, I mean, Japan doesn't want outsiders, so I get that it would be hard.
But when you think about it, the country is really dirt cheap. The exchange rate helps, for sure, but I'm fairly sure I could soon retire there instead of having to go to some meme SEA mudslime shithole. Japan is basically first world living standards for the price of Portugal.
I mean, take any vending machine for example. I could buy my beloved CC lemon for what, 130JPY. It's 0.75€. Coca-cola was 150 or 160JPY, if I'm not wrong. Try to find a single vending machine in the West that will sell you a coke or something for less than 2.5~3€ (and I imagine the equivalent in dollars).
And it's the same for food. And unironically the same for housing.
