It's an admirable start up story, and yes you do have point about how there is not many people who would be able to do what he has done. But I still don't really see how it justifies the build quality of his product. It is kind of like if someone from /ck/ wanted to start serving koba steak in a mini restraunt and he is able to buy the land, get the farmhands, the aggricultural tools, livestock and feed to raise cows for koba style meat. But then when he serves the koba it is raw and there is a waiver for the person to sign so liability can be mitigated if they contract tapeworm. It is impressive that the guy was able to start up his own farm and buisness to serve the meat but that all kind of blows away when the product is less than useable. As far as I am aware the only real reason why no one has done their own is because of the beamspring mechanism requiring specialist manufacturing for the steel leaves, everything else can be recreated without too much complexity besides obvious cost to scale if they are trying to sell a bunch.
