This image gave me a really cool idea. What if it was a border in the dark world for the weird route?
During regular gameplay it stays static, but when the soul appears in a battle a cool thorn growth animation plays and the "roots" connect to your soul. They follow the soul wherever it goes in the bullet box and then detach/retract when it's your turn again
The thorns are slightly transparent and dont count as a hitbox, I think it would be a creepy little feature to surprise weird route players who see it for the first time
