Personally I feel like you shouldn't show Lucifer or the devil and God. I think it was johnny the homicidal maniac in which Hell didn't have a devil but the illusion that somebody was in control that kept the demons in control.

Anyways Lucifer or again the Devil is a great character that can be fun. But I feel making him sympathetic pr the good guy loses that point of the character. You can have him be likeable. But I think you always got to have that hint or even motivation everything he does is for himself or that his intentions isn't to help.
