Probably to due with giving people more points for winning than they lose and rank resetting regularly on top of the inherent volatility in matchmaking for a 6v6 game in an open queue where three roles need to be filled and there are dozens of characters that can be selected at any time, most of which have vastly different skill requirements, while each player has differing levels of experience/skill on all of them along with willingness to switch.
