The game was fun. I can be easily entertained I'm not going to lie, but the reality is there is things to like about the way it's been put together. There are some quality things in the game development, despite the massive 100 million dollar missteps.
There's some inFamous with the freerunning and TPS superpowers, but also it's FFXV with the automated airstepping/flying and switching your weapon to deliver RPG moves power fantasy. In many ways the gameplay is somewhat better than FFXV or even XVI (not the highest bar) because of the way it gets progressively better at a faster pace with far less downtime. Definitely better magics and "Jobs" representation despite only having the 4 elements. It's nicely freeform, and it has good control if not a little bit floaty. You swipe the touchpad to swap between them and you can string together all manner of different crazy elemental moves. I shouldn't say there's no cooldowns because you do have cooldowns on the big ultimate attacks like summoning massive pillars of fire around the arena or erecting a massive firewall. But there's no cooldowns on your kit that you use on each element and there's a surprisingly decent variety of moves and combos and aerials to use and you have to switch based on enemy elements. It's not a juggle fest combo game though, it's too frantic and you're too defenseless. There are only 4 elements though and you only get one element at a time so it's extremely basic. Frey is basically Ashe from Evil Dead with the power of The Avatar.
