Namek is easily the best Dragon Ball arc, maybe with Saiyans or 23rd but it's clearly up there in so many ways.
In contrast the Piccolo Daimao arc is not that strong. It has a few writing issues, even if it gets carried by how heavy the arc is in tone and how ruthless Piccolo is.

It happened twice, and each time it was integrated to the plot and part of something much bigger (the Super Saiyan legend and Goku embracing his heritage, Goku passing on the baton to his son).
People who say "DBZ is all about getting mad and getting a new transformation" haven't read Dragon Ball and only parrot memes. Hell, just calling it "DBZ" instead of DB shows they're filthy animefags at best.
