Something similar actually happened in Chaos War, Thor was erased from existence by a blast from the Chaos King and then was reborn via someone praying on him. The idea that gods are narrative abstractions who can exist so long as someone believes in them goes all the way back to the Celestial arc of Roy Thomas' run on Thor.
It's unclear what Ewing is doing, could be Thor totally reborn or it could be Thor bonded to a mortal (possibly Blake, possibly someone else).
