Don't think there's anything you can do but quicksave before selecting a spy and hoping for the best, really hope they take the time to fix the crashing issues in an update. It's weird because I don't remember the mod ever crashing this much when it first dropped, I don't know which update it was but one of the post release updates definitely fucked something up underneath the hood.
