Most beagles are still disproportionate enough to have back issues. Every wild canine has the same limb/back proportions for a damn good reason. Out of standard beagles might be healthy, but AKC and "bettered as a breed" beagle is only slightly less likely to spontaneously destroy its spine than a basset hound or corgi.
Every time a dogs limbs are shortened the back compensates for the reduced mobility and wears out in half their lifespan
