I am considering buying a brand new launch edition PS2 phat. It’s worth the premium to me to be able to open a brand new relic from 2000, as if it were launch day all over again, and the twin towers were still standing.

I know a lot of poorfags will say to just spend $100 and get a used one that works the same, but I hate the dust and body grease that old consoles acquire - especially around the buttons of controllers and stuff. $1200 to $1500 is steep, but potentially worth it considering this is a grail that has been sitting and waiting to be played for twenty five years.

I also am worried though about capacitor life and other mechanical parts going bad. I guess in the long term I might need to learn some repair skills in order to keep this thing running. Anyway, anyone else considering taking this plunge or have already done it?
