hero shooters are niche, it is what it is. rivals should be the ultimate proof of this since it lost 90% of its players in 6 months despite being the most casualized version of overwatch possible using the world's most popular IPs. theres just too much churn and onboarding is hard because of all the mechanics and different characters, abilities and roles.
live-service games are 1000% dead in the next few years anyway. it's literally a race to the bottom, every new game that comes out cannibalizes the playerbase of the older ones and the only games left alive are mobile games and fortnite. esports is dead, live-service is next and finally the industry should collapse at the end of this decade.
