Mountains with eyes haven't been a thing in Mario in forever, unfortunately. They got thrown out in favor of the dotted SMW mountains once NSMB came along. Mario Kart World does bring back other inanimate objects having eyes like in Double Dash though, like vending machines, barriers and flight rings. One of the new tracks also has big smiling clouds as bouncy platforms.
