The worst part is that they've edited the shows down as far as they can and to pack in more commercials they actually speed up the video and then pitch shift the audio back down so they can make the whole show run 7% faster and add three more ads to the 30 minute block. Between that and overlapping the shows with picture-in-picture credits you're getting what was a 23 minute sitcom compressed into 20 minutes so a full THIRD of the airtime can be used to pitch Ozempic and Prevagen and cars and hamburgers.
My parents still suffer through this and can't operate the remote or understand how to record and skip stuff. It's depressing to visit them and try to teach what is just unlearnable for them. For they are true baby boomers approaching 80. They can afford the finest cable package but can't really take full advantage. Mainly just watch old westerns and local news coverage.
