has anyone else noticed this sudden push from comp-elitists saying that tf2 in its current state is NOT vanilla tf2 and is "a modified version" of the original game, in order to make normal, casual play bear the same or, more likely, less weight than competitive formats in conversations regarding tf2's history ("comp players were ALWAYS the true purists")? yes, there is a grain of truth to this (e.g. cosmetics watering down the visual integrity of the game, the introduction and discontinuation of item sets and just horribly balanced weapons like the 2011 tomislav etc etc), BUT all in all, nearly all post-release content for tf2 solidly and undamagingly layers onto the original experience from release in 2007. Even with such atrocious decisions such as matchmaking, the game continues to live on due to the incredibly designed gameplay loop at its core.
