Playing through it for the first time ever right now and was gonna make a thread about how surprised I am at its quality, freshness, and how it feels like it hasn't really been mercilessly ripped off over the years. Even though its a snes game it has me oohing and ahhing a lot with the visuals and little things that happen. Combat is really fun (when battles are quick, boss battles can be way too slow) and the things enemies can do like the one that picks others up, the snakes that will kill the frogs for health, the volcanoes that will attack the whole field, feel really creative and charming. I've never thought about directing in a video game before but the one thought running through my head the whole time as I play this is "this feels really well directed". The magus castle in particular was fucking awesome and has me excited for whatever the fuck actual endgame is gonna be
Whenever I hear about something being the greatest of all time over and over again I come into it really biased against it but I can be won over, and when something wins me over in that situation you know that shit is good
