This was my one and only game over during my first playthrough. The battle where you first meet Nina, I was ill equipped and got bodied, thinking it was a forced loss or something.
Nope. I had to reload and equip KICK which I'd forgotten to equip beforehand to eke out that victory.
Nowadays I know it's better to go full out offense and combo it to death and just tank the damage, but back then I felt like a god for denying enemies additional movement range/actions with a well-placed combo finisher kick
