Experimenting with packaging old games in flatpaks as I personally find setting up and fiddling with Wine prefixes (even with Bottles/Lutris) to be a pain. Feel like this route has potential. Skips over setting up the wine prefix setup process as well as the game/patches install process. Hoping in time to get a number of these done and seed some sort of flatpak repo folder (to take advantage of flatpak's native deduping).
First test here is Civilization 2. Uses a launcher to specify some additional options and includes a popular fan patch and full game soundtrack.
This file *should* just load from your software manager assuming you have flatpak setup (all distros out-of-the-box should except Ubuntu and its spins). Only tested it on my own system (GNOME/Fedora) would appreciate any feedback, I'm new to flatpak, and the launcher script seems fine but was like 99% written by copilot lol
Also never used these file hosters before, apologies if they're shit.
