replying to myself with my own thoughts like a jackass here but i think the fallen star is dess and the knight isn't exactly her, but something born from her despair.
i 100% think the knight is meant to be dess or some form of her but i also 100% think that the voice hidden in the code talking about the scratching is her, too. i used to think that the voice was something from the past, before something horrible happened to dess, but it seems like she's addressing a "listener", thanking them if they're really there. plus there's so many bits and pieces telling you to find her. if she's the knight, maybe it's like what susie says:
