The problem is the death of the board mono-culture. Used to be that there were things which basically everybody watched. So the whole board was involved with it, and everyone who was willing to make OC was exposed to it. Now everyone is watching their own things, and staying within the threads for those things, you might get one anon in the thread who cares enough to edit an image or draw something. And even if there is a thread with lots of good OC, you wouldn't know because you aren't watching it or exposed to the threads.
